ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - No. 24 Davenport utilized a fast start on Friday afternoon at Lewis scoring the game's first six goals and didn't look back. The Panthers led the Flyers by 12, 13-1, at halftime and pushed their advantage to as many as 15, 19-4, before the score had gone final. Next up, Davenport will host Lincoln Memorial (8-1), winner of seven matches in a row, on Tuesday with the opening draw scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the DU Turf Field.
Anna Glynn (6 goals) and
Ayanna Turrubiates (5) were on top of the scoring for Davenport once again and were joined in that department by
Blakely Malpass (4),
Aaliyah Miller (2),
Jordon Highley (1), and
Ele Darmofal (1). Assist wise, the Panthers' eight (two off season high) came from Glynn (2),
Avery Garant (2), Turrubiates (1), Malpass (1), Miller (1), and
Reilly Noble (1). Glynn continued to do it all for DU as she added four draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover.
Davenport's Player of the Game,
Maisy Latus, had herself a day with nine saves on 19 shots faced for a 69 percent save percentage (personal best by 23 percent margin) to go with seven ground balls (game high) in her sixth win of the spring. The redshirt-freshman stopper has now played all 60 minutes in four of the team's seven matches this season. Also on that side of the ball for the Panthers, Miller tallied two caused turnovers while
Maddy Haynes racked up a career high seven draw controls.
Davenport and Lincoln Memorial have never faced each other and it will be the second-straight ranked opponent for the Railsplitters as they host No. 22 Limestone on Saturday.
