GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Thanks to a dominant first half and 14-2 halftime lead over Lincoln Memorial (8-3) on Tuesday, the No. 23 Davenport University women's lacrosse team (7-1) cruised to a 20-5 victory over the Railsplitters.
The Panthers stretched their winning streak to four and will begin GLIAC play on Friday by hosting Upper Iowa (0-3, 0-1 GLIAC) for a 5:30 p.m. opening draw at the DU Turf Field. That meeting will mark the first ever between the Panthers and Peacocks.
Seven different scorers found the back of the net for Davenport including
Ayanna Turrubiates (7 goals),
Anna Glynn (6),
Blakely Malpass (3),
Maddy Haynes (1),
Reilly Noble (1),
Aaliyah Miller (1), and
Jordon Highley (1). Glynn was also tied for the squad lead in ground balls with four (Miller and
Theadora Krueger) while leading the team in draw controls with nine.
Defensively, Krueger and
Elizabeth Robinson each tallied two caused turnovers while
Maisy Latus (7-1) and
Makenna Pitchford split time in goal. Latus notched four saves on eight shots faced compared to Pitchford's three stops on seven faced.
