GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - No. 23 Davenport scored the game's first 10 goals, activated a running clock before the end of the first quarter and led Upper Iowa 13-0 halfway through the second period. In turn, the Panthers had no trouble dispatching the Peacocks in the teams' first-ever meeting and rolled to a 21-2 victory on Friday at the DU Turf Field. Next up, Davenport will host Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday with the opening draw scheduled for 12 p.m.
Nine different players broke into the scoring column for Davenport including
Anna Glynn (5 goals),
Aaliyah Miller (4),
Ayanna Turrubiates (4),
Blakely Malpass (2),
Avery Eichler (2),
Maddy Haynes (1),
Addie Bethune (1),
Marisa Scola (1), and
Jordon Highley (1). In particular, Friday's effort marked the first scores of the season for Eichler (first since 2020), Bethune (first since 2019) and Scola (first of career).
Assist wise, Davenport finished with 13, which is tied for ninth in program history, and eight players accounted for them.
Reilly Noble paced the Panthers in that category followed by Glynn (2), Miller (2), Turrubiates (1), Malpass (1), Eichler (1),
Avery Garant (1), and
Ele Darmofal (1). Turrubiates took the most shots of any Panther with seven, all seven of which were on goal. Four players registered multiple draw controls including Glynn (9), Haynes (4),
An Poropat (4), and Turrubiates (3).
Defensively, Haynes was on top of the ground ball department with four while Malpass was the lone Panther to tally multiple caused turnovers with two. In goal,
Maisy Latus (8-1) and
Makenna Pitchford played 30 minutes each. Latus didn't register a save, but only faced two shots, while Pitchford finished with three saves on six faced.
