ST. PAUL, Minn. - Aside from a tie at 7-7 late in the first half, Concordia-St. Paul led Davenport wire to wire on Friday night inside the Concordia Dome. The Golden Bears came out on top, 15-12, and handed the Panthers their second-straight loss, something that hadn't happened since 2019. Next up on the schedule for DU is a trip to Upper Iowa on Sunday and a 1 p.m. ET start in the final road game of the regular season.
Davenport (10-4, 3-2 GLIAC) fell to an unranked opponent for the first time since that 2019 season while Concordia-St. Paul (6-8, 2-3 GLIAC) has won two games in a row since being defeated by the Panthers on March 27 in Grand Rapids. The Golden Bears now lead the all-time series by three, 6-3.
Friday,
Anna Glynn paced the Panthers in goals (6), shots (10), shots on goal (9), draw controls (5), and free-position shots (3-4) while tying with
Maisy Latus for the team lead in ground balls (4). Also scoring for Davenport were
Ayanna Turrubiates (2),
Aaliyah Miller (1),
Avery Garant (1),
Jordon Highley (1), and
Blakely Malpass (1). Miller was on top in assists with two while Glynn, Turrubiates and
Maddy Haynes each added one.
Defensively, four different Panthers tallied a caused turnover including
Elizabeth Robinson (4), Glynn (2),
Addie Bethune (2), and Miller (1). In goal, Latus (51:40) made the start with four saves on 23 shots faced before giving way to
Makenna Pitchford (8:20) and her one stop on six attempts.
