Palmitier Takes Helm of Men's Volleyball Program

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -  Jason Palmitier has been named the new head coach of the Davenport University men's volleyball, as announced by Ryan McCosky, the Director of Non-Varsity Sports and Programing, on Thursday morning.

With over 30 years of coaching experience, Palmitier has experience at the middle school, high school, and club levels across West Michigan. Recently, as the boys game has grown in Michigan, he has enjoyed being in the middle of both the club and school scenes.

"I am really excited to add Jason to our DU family," McCosky said. "He brings a great volleyball background and is connected to the local volleyball community here in West Michigan. Not only is he a great coach, he is a great person, and I can't wait for him to get to work with our young men."

Palmitier is the lead coach for the Impact Dynamic boys volleyball program in Hudsonville, competing in the Great Lakes Region with six teams. For the last three years, he has also been helping out at Hudsonville High school, helping start and grow their boys volleyball program. Palmitier has helped lead Hudsonville to early success in its inaugural seasons, winning the last three Michigan Boys Volleyball state tournaments.

"At Davenport, I look forward to making the jump to the college level," Palmitier said. "After helping connect our players from Impact with college coaches around the state of Michigan, the desire of coaching at the college level began to grow. My experience coaching our top boys' team at Impact will help the Davenport program have a steady presence and add to its success."

Graduating from Grand Valley State University with a Master of Education degree, Palmitier also teaches social studies at Cityside Middle School in Zeeland, Mich. Palmitier resides in Hudsonville, Mich. with his wife Anne.
