Three Panthers Earn All-GLIAC Honors; Kalinowski Collects Major Award

GLIAC --  Stephanie Kalinowski of the Davenport women's volleyball team was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Defensive Player of the Year, as announced by the league announced Friday afternoon. Lindsay Taylor and Emmy Webb were also recognized in the postseason awards.

Along with bringing home the major award, Kalinowski was also a Second Team All-GLIAC selection. Taylor, the team's top offensive threat in 2023, earned First Team All-GLIAC honors, while Emmy Webb was named to the honorable mention team.

A native of South Lyon, Mich, Kalinowski had a breakout graduate campaign with the Panthers, ending the regular season leading the conference in both digs (553) and digs per set (4.85). Her 567 digs in 2023 rank the fifth most in a single season in school history, while 4.85 digs per set ranks fourth. The graduate racked up three consecutive GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Kalinowski is the second Panther to garner Player of the Week honors in three consecutive weeks since the program joined the GLIAC ahead of the 2017 season. Kalinowski recorded a career-high 38 digs against Saginaw Valley State (Nov. 10), marking the third most in a single match in program history. In that match against the Cardinals, she also notched a career-high six service aces. There were four matches in 2023 Kalinowski eclipsed 30 digs and registered double-digit digs in 28 of 29 matches. Over her four-year career with the Panthers, she has tallied 1,175 digs, the ninth most in school history.

"Stephanie is the definition of hard work," said head coach Brian Netzler. "She has put countless hours into her craft on the court and watching video. The only thing you deserve is what you earn, and Stephanie earned every bit of this award as the top defender in the GLIAC."

For the second consecutive year, Taylor has earned All-GLIAC honors, being named Second Team All-GLIAC in 2022. The Rockford, Mich. native led the Panthers in kills (396), kills per set (3.41) and points per set (3.89). Her 3.41 kills per set in 2023 ranks eighth all-time in program history, while her 3.26 kills per set over the course of her career ranks third. The outside hitter recorded the fourth most kills in a single match in program history, slamming 29 against GVSU (Oct. 31). Taylor finished the season on a tear, racking up eight consecutive double-doubles and 12 in her final 13 matches. She tallied double-digit kills in 21 of 30 matches in her final season with Davenport.

"Lindsay has been one of the best volleyball players in the GLIAC these past two seasons," Netzler said. "Her ability to impact every part of the game sets her apart and this award is a direct reflection on that."

Webb has been a key contributor to the DU volleyball program for the last five seasons. The graduate was the team's most efficient offensive threat, swinging at a .290 clip, marking the 10th highest in a season in DU history. The Rockford, Mich native led the team in total blocks (80) while ranking second in kills (233) and points (301.5), all of which were career-highs. Four times in 2023 the middle blocker hit over .600, with her most notable outing being a 13-kill performance against Saginaw Valley State (Sept. 30) and finishing with a .765 hitting percentage.

"Emmy has been the rock in our lineup all season," said Netzler. "Her discipline and work ethic are unmatched. Coming back from a significant injury and fully healthy all season, Emmy carried the load offensively and defensively in the middle for us this season."
