GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's ACHA Division II hockey team extended their win streak to four over the weekend with a pair of wins against Concordia (Mich.) out of Ann Arbor. The Panthers took the game 6-3 at Arctic Edge Ice Arena on Friday and then returned home for an 8-2 win at Patterson Ice Center on Saturday. Friday night's game did not include a box score on the ACHA website from Concordia. The Saturday matchup saw DU record 48 shots on goal compared to 26 for Concordia. DU's most productive period was the third with 23 shots alone on the cage.
Brian Woak scored twice in the first period to put him up to eight goals on the season. The game was knotted at 2-2 through the first 20 minutes, but then it was all Panthers with six straight goals to close out the contest.
Ryan Gamber had the only goal in the second period at 5:46 short-handed from
Lukas Lyszyk.
Nathan Hartline would score twice in the third period at 4:41 and 11:54 with the second goal coming on the power play from
Arian Starin and
Zach Schneider. Starin got into the scoring act at 17:35 from Lyszyk and Hartline and the scoring ended at 19:34 as
Luke Nickolaus notched his second goal of the season from Lyszyk and Starin. Starin and Lyszyk led the team with four points each.
Austin Bartell stone-walled the Cardinals over the final two periods and finished with 24 saves.
