GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The ACHA Division II men's hockey squad improved to 7-3 on the season with a 4-0 victory over Lewis University on Friday, Nov. 7 at Patterson Ice Center. The Panthers improved to 2-1 at home and snapped a two-game skid in the process.
Davenport peppered Lewis netminder Samuel Zgiet with 45 shots on goal, including double-digit shots in each period.
Devin DeCarlo, the sophomore goaltender for Davenport, earned the shutout with 32 saves in a brilliant performance. Lewis was stymied on the power play going 0-of-6, while DU countered going 2-of-6 with the man advantage.
The Dixon's had a great night for the Panthers as Nate Dixon got the scoring started at 12:26 of the second period with an assist from
Cole Dixon and
Harrison Follett on the power play.
Cole Dixon netted his sixth of the season at 15:35 of the second period from
Derrand Wilcox and Follett got his second helper of the night.
Cole Dixon scored again at 4:59 of the third period on the power play from William Soldano and
Ian Milton. Soldano followed with his first goal of the season at 18:53 as Follett recorded his third assist and Nate Dixon collected his first assist of the game. The team will hit the road this upcoming weekend as they travel to Milwaukee School of Engineering for a pair of games on Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at noon.
