Panthers End Thanksgiving Weekend with 97-72 Victory Over Lions

ERIE, Pa. - Six players finished in double figures as the Davenport University men's basketball team defeated Georgian Court 97-72 on Saturday evening at the Highmark Events Center. Leading the balanced offensive attack from the Panthers (3-4, 0-0 GLIAC) was Marcedus Leech Jr., finishing with 15 points, four assists and two rebounds.

It is the second time in the 2023-24 season that the Panthers have finished with six or more players in double-digits. As a team, DU shot 65 percent from the field and 54 percent from the deep in the victory over the Lions (1-4, 0-0 CACC).

Raishaun Brown hit a pair of three-pointers in the opening 2:20 of the contest, propelling the Panthers to an 8-2 lead. Luke Bara and Jeff Carrier each drained a shot from deep to push the DU lead to 14 with 10:23 remaining in the half.

The Panthers took a commanding 21-point lead with 3:38 left in the half as Leech Jr. nailed a three. Bara ended the half with a shot from beyond the arc, giving Davenport a 26-point advantage heading into the break.

In the second half, the Panthers continued to control the game, not letting their lead fall below 20 points. Davenport's largest lead of the game was 32, coming in the second half.

James Felton notched his first double-double of his career, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 boards. Myles Belyeu finished with 14 points and six rebounds while shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor. Bara chipped in with 14 points, making all four of his three-point attempts. Carrier ended with 12 points, while Brown recorded a season-high 10 points.
