GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -  The Davenport University women's basketball team closed out its five-game home stretch Saturday afternoon in the DU Student Center, as they were defeated by No. 24 Michigan Tech 63-48.

Ellie Toney put in a team-high 15 points, all of which came from behind the arc, shooting 5-for-8 from range for the Panthers (7-17, 1-13 GLIAC). Lillee Gustafson finished in double-digits for the 13th time in her last 15 games played, scoring 10 points and grabbing nine rebounds for DU.

Scout Nelson took the court for the 100th time in her career as a Panther in the loss. The senior guard finished the contest tying a career-high in steals with four while adding eight rebounds, five points, and two assists. Nelson averages 8.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in her career with DU.

Coming out of the break trailing 29-21, Nelson found an open Toney on the right wing for a three to bring the Davenport deficit to five. Midway through the third quarter Mary Liedel hit a pair of shots on consecutive possessions to pull within four.

With the game hanging in the balance, Toney knocked down her fifth three of the contest with 8:34 remaining to set the score at 43-36 in favor of the Huskies (20-5, 12-3 GLIAC). However, Ellie Mackay scored 14 points over the final 6:14 of play to close out the game for MTU.

Mackay registered 18 points while grabbing six rebounds for the Huskies. Isabella Lenz and Sara Dax each chipped in with 10 points in the victory for MTU.
