Jessica Creamer is joining the Davenport University Ultimate Frisbee coaching staff and will oversee the women's program. The Ultimate Frisbee program is one of the newest ventures in the athletic department and is scheduled to start competing during the 2023-24 academic year.
"I'm thrilled to be a part of a brand new chapter in ultimate history," said Creamer. "Davenport is creating a program that will support students financially to get their education and play ultimate at the same time. This is the first women's program of this kind and it will really help push the sport forward, hopefully increasing the diversity that we see in ultimate. By providing ultimate scholarships and a strong support system for college athletes, I hope that Davenport's program allows people from all backgrounds the opportunity to play this sport at a high level while completing their degree."
Creamer most recently has served as President and General Manager of Los Angeles Astra LLC in Pasadena, California. She has been instrumental in building the women's game from the ground up with the semi-professional organization. Among her various stops along the way include founder and captain of the women's club at Northern Arizona University where she earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry. She also served as head coach for the women's club team at the University of Kansas where she earned a master's degree and doctorate degree in pharmaceutical chemistry. Creamer brings 20 years of experience with her into this new role at Davenport.
"Jess is the perfect coach for this team," said current head coach Mike Zaagman. "Her passion for the sport, her experience, and drive to make this sport known is admirable. She has spent the last 20 years empowering and showcasing women in Ultimate Frisbee. Her background starting multiple Ultimate Frisbee programs from the ground up is just what we need here at Davenport University. Jess is the most significant hire for our program as well as for the sport. Davenport University is making waves in our sport and making Ultimate more accessible through athletic scholarships and a great education. We couldn't be happier to have Jess on our coaching staff."Â
