BYRON CENTER, Mich. - The Davenport University women's ultimate team completed its regular season games with a tournament right down the road at Brewer Park on Saturday and Sunday. The USAU Spring Skirmish hosted DU and teams from Grand Valley State University, Michigan State University, Loyola University, St. Olaf University, and the University of Wisconsin. DU won the two-day tournament and finished their regular season 9-4.

On Saturday, there were four rounds of pool play, where DU easily went 4-0. Over the course of four games, DU was only scored on twice. Defensive stars Leilani Lepe, Kara Higgins, and Elley Smith racked up blocks, and captain Kylee Sipkema caught DU's first-ever Callahan, a rare defensive goal, occurring when a player intercepts the disc in their opponent's end zone. On offense, quick movement from captain Jocelyn Richison and rookies Aiva Zoldan and Charlee Tannahill kept the other teams on their toes.

On Sunday, DU finished up pool play with a win over the UW, maintaining their number one seed as they headed into the bracket. In the semifinals, they won 12-1 against GVSU, and in the finals, they beat MSU 11-3. Other highlights from the weekend include rookie Reilly Lind catching her first score, Avery Smith getting her first layout block, and rookie Kira Straub completing two 50-yard hucks.
