GLVC Opener Controlled by No. 6 Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for the men's lacrosse team was their toughest test of the season at No. 6 Indianapolis. The Panthers had won two straight heading into the game, but the Greyhounds led wire-to-wire in a 21-10 decision over the Panthers.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first four-plus minutes of the game and were off and running. Nick Randgaard, Drew Billig, and Wyatt Auyer were the goal scorers for Indianapolis. Keelan McKouen got Davenport on the board at 8:47 of the first quarter from James Johnston. McKouen who go on to score five goals in the contest on six shots on goal.

Dylan Day got the other goal in the first quarter for DU at the 6:29 mark unassisted. The Greyhounds led 5-2 after the first quarter and 9-5 at halftime. The third quarter saw the Greyhounds really pull away with seven goals compared to two for the Panthers. They also outscored DU 5-3 in the fourth quarter as DU gave up their most goals in a game this season. Indianapolis was credited with 70 shots including 45 shots on goal. Daniel Milano got the start in goal for the Panthers and made 12 saves. Chase Fisher filled in during the second half and also had 12 saves. Auyer led Indianapolis with five goals and two assists. Owain Braddock, Billig, and Triston Schaffer also had three goals apiece. The glaring stat proved to be face-offs in which the home team won 30-of-35.

The Panthers will have a two-week break before getting back into GLVC play at home against Maryville. The game will start at noon at the DU Turf Field.
