GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport men's lacrosse team had two weeks off and got back into action with a GLVC contest on Saturday afternoon against Maryville. After a spirited first quarter in which the game was tied at three, the Saints used the middle two quarters to outscore the Panthers 8-1 en route to the 16-7 win. Davenport slips to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the GLVC, while Maryville improved to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Dylan Day scored the first two goals for Davenport and Justin Simonson likewise did the same thing for Maryville. Matt Martyn gave Maryville a 3-2 lead at the 4:16 mark and the scoring concluded in the quarter at 3:58 on a goal by Jayden Ashley from Adam Smellie.

The Saints would then score five straight times to take an 8-3 lead early in the third quarter. With the score at 6-3, the Saints scored a back-breaking goal with one second left in the first half. David Yakel took the shot that gave the Saints a 7-3 lead at halftime.
