QUINCY, Ill. - The Davenport men's lacrosse team went on the road for the final time this season and came away with a 15-10 win at Quincy in GLVC action. The win propels Davenport to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the conference. QU sees their record slip to 8-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
Davenport improved to 3-0 in the all-time series against the Hawks and dominated the first quarter and never looked back. The Panthers were leading 6-0 after 15 minutes and managed to score seven more goals in the second quarter to lead 13-5 at halftime. The Hawks tried to get back into the game with a 5-2 edge in goals in the second half. DU managed two goals in the third quarter and was shutout in the fourth quarter.
Jayden Ashley was one goal shy of his season high with six goals. He maintained his team lead with 36 goals on the season. Ashley scored twice in the first quarter, second quarter, and third quarter. He did have one man-up goal which occurred at the 4:10 mark of the second quarter.
This was a physical contest as Davenport committed eight penalties for a total of 10 minutes. Quincy had even more with 12 penalties for 13 minutes. Davenport could have made this a bigger winning margin, but were just 1-for-12 in extra-man chances. The Hawks scored three man-up goals in eight tries.
The Panthers were able to hold a 34-25 advantage in shots on goal. Both keepers were busy as Ryan Riggs made 19 saves for Quincy and
Daniel Milano stopped 15 shots by Quincy. Donald Griffith led the Hawks with four goals and had five points.
James Johnston led all players with seven points consisting of three goals and four assists.
Adam Smellie also contributed two goals and one assist.
Kaden Seelye led the team with seven groundballs and caused two turnovers.
The Panthers will close out the regular season next week beginning with a matchup against Lewis on Tuesday, April 25 at 2:00 PM from the DU Turf Field. The Panthers will be looking for their first win against the Flyers.
