Preview: Panthers heading on the road for conference action

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University women's soccer team capped off their five-match homestand with an impressive 4-0-1 record. Preparing for their first road trip of the season, the team moved up to No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Midwest Region Poll.

Last week, goalkeeper Gabriana Bennecke posted a .923 save percentage with 12 saves in a defensive showcase against Saginaw Valley State and Ferris State. A 1-0 victory against SVSU resulted in Bennecke's fourth-straight shutout victory for the year, followed by a 1-1 undefeated outcome against Ferris State that saw the first goal scored against her thus far. The performance resulted in Bennecke earning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for week three.

Each goal scored in the matchups would prove major for the Panthers as Abi Hearn's second goal of the season put DU over Saginaw Valley State and the other from Arianna Diemer came in the final three minutes against Ferris State to push their conference record to 1-0-1.

This week DU faces off against Wisconsin-Parkside and Purdue Northwest in back-to-back away matches.

Parkside Matchup
The Rangers are looking for their first conference win of the year with a 0-1-1 GLIAC record to start following a draw against Northern Michigan (1-1) and a 1-0 loss against Michigan Tech.

Alexis Baker and Alexis Bolger are tied in the leaderboards for goals scored (two) and points (four), with the other two goals of the season coming from Emily Mikkelson in the draw against Northern and Kate Brown. Goalkeeper Izzy Guyer has allowed just three goals this year and was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for week two after back-to-back shutouts against Minnesota State and Concordia.

Historically the Panthers have a .643 win percentage against Parkside with a 3-1-3 record, the last match ending in a 1-1 draw in Wisconsin last season.

Purdue Northwest Matchup
Kaci Pampreen was one of a handful of GLIAC athletes to garner an honor after week one, as four goals, one assist and nine points on a perfect four-for-four shot percentage garnered GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Lauryn Tillmon and Emma Carter have been the team's only scorers since week one (one goal each) as they went scoreless in week three in losses against Michigan Tech (2-0) and Northern Michigan (3-0) for a 0-2 record in the GLIAC. Goalkeeper Meta Fischer has played all 540 minutes for PNW with 28 saves this year for a .778 save percentage thus far.

DU will look to extend their four-match win streak against PNW as their all-time record against the opponent stands at 6-1 overall.
