Panthers Start New Year With Dominating 50-Point Victory

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Luke Bara poured in a season-high 26 points to lead the Davenport men's basketball team to a 113-63 victory over East-West University on Tuesday afternoon at the DU Student Center. The sophomore drained 6-of-9 three-point attempts while shooting 8-for-12 from the field.

The Panthers (4-6, 0-1 GLIAC) dominated from the tip, getting out to a 16-point advantage 9:30 into the game following four consecutive points from Aidan Moon. Davenport ended the first half on a 12-2 run, which was capped by seven straight points by Marcedus Leech Jr.

James Felton spurred a 9-0 run just 1:34 into the second half with a slam, putting DU on top 68-37. Bara hit two of his six shots from deep in a 59-second span to grow the Davenport lead to 34 (80-46).

With just over three minutes remaining, Jack Olis made a layup to push the Panthers past the century mark. The redshirt freshman then buried three three-pointers in the final three minutes to give himself a career-high 13 points.

The Panthers' 113 points are tied for the sixth most points scored in program history, falling seven points short of the school record (120).

Leech Jr. ended with 16 points, three assists and two rebounds for the Panthers. Felton finished with 15 points and four rebounds, while Aidan Moon chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds and two assists. Myles Belyeu came up just short of a triple-double, scoring nine points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out seven assists.
