Panthers Fall to Parkside on Thursday Night

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -  The Davenport University men's basketball team was defeated by Parkside on Thursday evening at the DU Student Center with a final score of 80-56. Jeff Carrier led the way for the Panthers (6-11, 2-6 GLIAC), pouring in 12 points and grabbing five boards. The 6-7 forward has now scored double-figures in three consecutive games.

The Rangers (9-9, 4-4 GLIAC) did most of their damage in the first half, heading into the break with a 20-point advantage (45-25). DU was only out-scored by four points (35-31) in the second half.

After going down by 16 points 7:15 into the game, the Panthers clawed back within nine following a free throw by Jaden Terrell. However, UWP answered with a 12-0 run, eclipsing 4:17 at the end of the half. Parkside then opened the second half on a 9-2 rally, propelling them to a 27-point lead which proved to be too much for Davenport to overcome.

Marcedus Leech Jr. finished the night with 10 points and two rebounds for the Panthers. Myles Belyeu chipped in with four points, four rebounds and four assists in the loss for Davenport.
