Terrell Nets Season-High 17 Points in Bounce Back Victory

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -  Jaden Terrell tied a career-high, pouring in 17 points (season-high), as the Davenport University men's basketball team defeated Purdue Northwest 72-63 on Saturday afternoon at the DU Student Center.

Holding a two-point lead late, Myles Belyeu found Jeff Carrier on a hook pass over the head of two defenders as the 6-7 forward laid it in for the Panthers (7-11 3-6 GLIAC) with 1:12 remaining. DU then held the Pride (10-9, 4-5 GLIAC) for the remainder of the game while draining five of six free throws down the stretch.

Davenport started the game hot, going on an early 19-4 run, which spanned 4:56 and was capped by a layup from Raishaun Brown, giving them a 19-8 lead.

In the closing seconds of the half, Jovan Tucker drove down the lane and found Terrell, who drilled a three from the corner, propelling the Panthers to a nine-point advantage (39-30) to close out the half.

The Panthers held CJ Jackson (13.8 ppg), to a season-low two points in the victory.

Marcedus Leech Jr. scored 20 points for DU, marking the sixth time this season he has scored at least 20 points and the 23rd of his career. Carrier reached double-figures for the fourth straight game, tallying 11 points, seven rebounds, a steal and a block. Jovan Tucker finished with 10 points and a career-high eight assists.
