Panthers Throttle Cougars in Record-Breaking Fashion

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Marcedus Leech Jr. tied a career-high in points with 35 to lead the Davenport University men's baseball team to a 115-64 victory over Kuyper College on Tuesday Evening at the DU Student Center. The 6-5 guard knocked down a school-record nine three-pointers in the victory while shooting 13-for-17 from the floor.

As a team, DU nailed 23 shots from beyond the arc, the most in a single game in program history. The previous record (20) came earlier this season against East-West (Nov 21, 2023). The 115 points scored for DU is the most this season and the sixth most in program history.

Davenport dished out 33 assists, which tied a school record, as they tallied 33 vs. Lees-McRae in 2018.

Jaden Terrell drained a career-high 20 points, grabbed nine boards and registered a career-high five assists for the Panthers. TJ Mitchell also notched a career-high, scoring 10 points in six minutes of action. James Felton and Matas Deksnys each scored nine points in the victory for DU.

After leading 54-40 heading into the half, Jovan Tucker hit a three-pointer to set in motion a massive 29-2 run to start the second half, propelling the Panthers to an 83-42 advantage. Leech Jr. hit five of his nine three-pointers during the eight-minute run.

In the second half, the Panthers out-scored the Cougars 61-24, shooting 64 percent from the floor and 58 percent from deep.
