Panthers Suffer Loss to Huskies in Low-Scoring Affair

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -  The Davenport men's basketball team fell 59-53 to Michigan Tech on Saturday afternoon at the DU Student Center. Myles Belyeu led the way for the Panthers (4-8, 0-3 GLIAC), scoring a team-high 12 points while grabbing 10 rebounds, marking his first double-double this season.

Davenport put together a 7-0 run early in the first half, which eclipsed 4:55 and gave the Panthers a six-point lead (14-8). The Panthers took a one-point lead to the half as Brown hit a free throw in the final seconds to give DU the edge.

A pair of free throws from Raishaun Brown with 11:02 remaining gave Davenport its largest lead of the day (37-28). However, the Huskies (5-8, 2-2 GLIAC) stormed back to take a 55-46 lead with 1:21 remaining.

Marcedus Leech Jr. trimmed the deficit to three with 30 seconds remaining as he had back-to-back steaks and dunks in transition. MTU closed out the game converting its final four free throw attempts in the closing 29 seconds to seal the game.

As a team, the Panthers recorded 13 steals, the second most they have tallied in a single game this season.

Matas Deksnys finished with 10 points and two steals for Davenport. Leech Jr. recorded nine points to go along with three steals and seven rebounds, both marking season-highs. Jaden Terrell chipped in with eight points, two boards and a steal.
