Panthers Downed by Oilers Despite Season-Best Shooting Performance

FINDLAY, Ohio - The Davenport University men's basketball team lost 87-69 to Findlay on Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 26) at Niekamp Arena. The Oilers (5-1, 0-0 G-MAC) received votes in the latest NABC Coaches Poll and were ranked No. 25 a week ago.

Despite the loss, the Panthers (1-4, 0-0 GLIAC) had their best shooting performance of the season, finishing the night 52 percent from the floor and 42.3 percent from deep.

DU hit four three-pointers in a 3:02 span in the opening stages of the game to take a 16-11 lead over UF. During that stretch, Raishaun Brown led the charge with nine points, all coming off of shots from behind the arc.

Dylan Smith converted a three-point play with 5:47 remaining in the first half, which propelled the Panthers to their biggest lead of the evening (29-23). However, the Oilers answered with a 13-2 run, going on top of DU by five 36-31 and eventually taking a 40-33 lead into the break.

Findlay slowly grew its advantage in the second half, eventually getting ahead by 20 (58-38) with 13:35 to go after putting together an 11-0 run.
