Panthers Open the Week with Dominating 104-63 Victory Over Kuyper

Senior guard Raishaun Brown has hit at least three three-pointers in three consecutive games.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University men's basketball team picked up its second win of the season in convincing fashion, defeating Kuyper 104-63 on Monday evening at the DU Student Center.

Jovan Tucker led all scorers with 26 points, marking a career-high for the senior guard. The Chicago, Ill. native also notched nine rebounds, four assists, three blocks and five three-pointers for the Panthers (2-4, 0-0 GLIAC). Raishaun Brown poured in 15 points on five three-pointers, both marking career bests. Brown also finished the game with four assists, two rebounds and a pair of blocks.

A pair of freshmen also notched season-highs in the scoring department as Matyas Vrabel poured in 17, while Joey Cabana finished with 16 points. Vrabel also grabbed 11 rebounds, which marked his second double-double of the season.

Nine minutes into the opening half, Jaden Terrell nailed a shot from beyond the arc off a Cabana assist to cap an 11-0 DU run and pushed its lead to 13 (30-17). Davenport closed the half on a 7-0 run, sparked by a layup from Vrabel off an Isaiah Foster assist and the Panthers took a massive 60-27 lead into the break.

After the Cougars (3-8, 1-2 NCCAA) opened the second half with a layup, Tucker immediately answered with a three-pointer to put DU ahead 63-29.

Down the stretch, Brown nailed three triples in a 2:27 span, all of which came from Tucker and DU went ahead 92-51 with 7:04 remaining.

A layup from Vrabel with 2:09 left in the contest pushed the Panthers over the century mark (101-57).
