Tucker Nets Career-High as Panthers Dominate Crusaders

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Jovan Tucker recorded a career-high 31 points on 12-for-17 shooting to lead the Davenport men's basketball team to a 96-61 victory over Great Lake Christian on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 14) at the DU Student Center. The senior guard has now scored 20-plus points in three of the last four games while scoring in double figures in all but one contest this season.

An 8-0 run was spurred off a three-pointer from Jonas VanderWoude, putting the Panthers (3-6, 0-2 GLIAC) on top of the Crusaders (7-4, 0-0 NCCAA) 14-122 eight minutes into the game. Davenport took a 46-34 lead into the break, ending the opening half on a 10-2 run, capped by another three-pointer from VanderWoude.

Tucker nailed a shot from deep with 14:23 remaining, pushing the DU lead to 20 for the first time in the contest (63-43). Davenport pulled away down the stretch behind a 13-0 rally, which featured three dunks (two from Dylan Smith and one from Tucker) and eight points from Smith.

Smith ended the game with 11 points, five rebounds and an assist for the Panthers. VanderWoude added 10 points, shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from deep. Matyas Vrabel, Raishaun Brown and Aidan Moon all chipped in with nine points apiece in the win for Davenport.

As a team, the Panthers shot 50 percent from the floor and 41.2 percent from beyond the arc.
