Panthers End Calendar Year with 62-61 Victory Over Dragons

TIFFIN, Ohio - Jovan Tucker scored a game-high 24 points (8-for-15) to lead the Davenport University men's basketball team to its second consecutive win, taking down Tiffin 62-61 on Saturday afternoon at the Gillmor Student Center. The senior guard has now scored at least 20 points in four of the last five games for the Panthers (4-6, 0-2 GLIAC).

A layup from Jaden Terrell 4:18 into the game set in motion a dominating 13-2 DU run, spanning 6:31 and putting the Panthers ahead by 11 (19-8) midway through the first half. The Dragons (2-8, 0-2 G-MAC) answered with a 9-0 run, cutting the Davenport lead to three (19-17) with 7:26 to go until halftime. Joey Cabana halted the TU run with a layup, pushing the DU lead back to four (21-17).

Tucker scored the final basket of the half for Davenport on a driving layup as he put in 11 points in the opening half and the Panthers took a 29-26 lead into the break.

With 1:07 remaining in the contest, Tiffin tied the game at 57 apiece. On the ensuing possession, Cabana was fouled driving into the line and drained a pair of free throws. Leading by one with eight seconds remaining, Tucker sank two free throws to push the DU advantage to three (61-58). The Dragons had a chance to tie it but came down and threw the ball away as they were trying to set up a corner three.

Cabana finished with 16 points, shooting a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line. Dylan Smith added seven points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Aidan Moon chipped in with six points and four rebounds.
