Panthers start indoor season at GVSU Holiday Open

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams eagerly anticipated their first indoor meet on Friday at the GVSU Holiday Open. The meet included a huge amount of teams from all over the country including the likes of Central Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan and Western Michigan from the NCAA Division I ranks in our state.

Julia Tuuri got off to a great start as she broke her own school record in the 60-meter dash set in this event last year. She ran 7.66 in the finals of the event and placed third. Tuuri wasn't done as she also improved on her own school record in the 200 meters with a time of 24.86 and again placed third in the event. Arrionna Wallace also established a personal best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.89, which was the third-fastest time in program history.

Ethan Scholten was able to hit the provisional time in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.83 and took home second place. More success continued in the sprints as Ibrahim Fall broke the school record in the 200 meters by .07 seconds with a time of 21.51 and hit the provisional mark. He also was able to finish fourth in the event. Freshman Brayden Green won the triple jump in his first collegiate meet and also set a school record with a jump of 14.39 meters (47' 2.5").
