Panthers Edged by Warriors on Saturday Afternoon

DETROIT, Mich. - The Davenport men's basketball team fell 84-70 to Wayne State University on Saturday afternoon at the WSU Fieldhouse. The contest marked the second of four consecutive road games for DU.

Matas Deksnys trimmed a 15-point deficit to 12 heading into the half, knocking down three free throws in the closing seconds of the first half to set the score at 43-31 in front of WSU.

With 5:51 remaining in the contest, Marcedus Leech Jr. made a midrange jump shot to pull the Panthers (9-13, 4-8 GLIAC) within six (67-61), after trailing by as many as 18. However, the Warriors (10-12, 4-9 GLIAC) answered with an 8-3 run which grew their lead back to double digits.
