Tucker Drops Career-High 24 Points in Loss to Pride

HAMMOND, Ind. - Jovan Tucker tallied a career-high 24 points as the Davenport University men's basketball team fell 81-75 to Purdue Northwest Thursday evening at John Friend Court. The 6-3 guard also dished out six assists while grabbing four rebounds for the Panthers (9-14, 4-9 GLIAC).

Matas Deksnys scored five points in the opening 2:37 to get DU out to a 9-4 advantage to start the game. However, the Pride (12-12, 6-8 GLIAC) scored 11 unanswered points to take a six-point lead with 13:57 remaining in the half.

A driving layup from Marcedus Leech Jr. pulled the Panthers within one (19-18), but PNW put together a 10-0 run at the end of the half and led 41-28 heading into the break.

With just over a minute remaining in the game, Leech Jr. made a free throw following a technical foul to bring Davenport back within six (77-71). The Pride went 4-for-4 from the free throw line down the stretch to help hold on late over the Panthers.

Davenport held the Prides' leading scorer, Brendan Temple (14.5 ppg), to just five points in 20 minutes of action.

For the Panthers, Leech Jr. ended the night with 23 points, four rebounds and a steal, marking the sixth time in the last eight games he has eclipsed 20 points. Deksnys finished with eight points, while Jaden Terrell chipped in with seven points and four rebounds for DU.
