Panthers Dominate Quincy to Conclude Opening Weekend

SMYRNA, Tenn. - Savanna Disbrow tied a school record for RBIs in a single game with seven to lead the Davenport University softball team to a commanding 14-2 victory over Quincy on Sunday morning (Feb. 18). The Kalamazoo Valley Community College transfer also ended the day with three hits and a run.

Stepping up to the plate with runners on first and second in the top of the first inning, Hayley Kreiger singled up the middle to bring home Becca Daoust for the first run of the game. Alexis Gills scored on the ensuing at-bat, as Disbrow had a sacrifice fly to center field.

Daoust scored again in the second inning, following a fielding error by the Hawks on a Kreiger at-bat. Moments later, Gills reached home as Disbrow singled to right field, putting the Panthers up 4-0.

Davenport continued its dominance in the third inning, Liv Regenfuss secured her first hit of the game with an RBI triple, which allowed Elisse Omey to reach home. Later in the Inning, Disbrow brought home two runs as she drilled the ball to right field, allowing Daoust and Gills to each score again. DU ended the third inning with a massive 8-0 lead over QU.

Heading into the sixth inning with a 9-2 lead, the Panthers tacked on five more runs, highlighted by a three RBI double to center field by Disbrow.

The one-two punch at the top of the batting order in Daoust and Gills each ended the day with three hits and four runs for the Panthers.

In the circle, Hailey Whisman picked up the second win of her career. The freshman pitched all six innings, tossing five strikeouts in the victory.
