Panthers see history made at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio - The Davenport swimming and diving teams had a handful of competitors take part in the NCAA Division II Championships over the last couple of days at SPIRE Institute. There were four student-athletes who reached the highest level in the sport and a little bit of history was made in the process.

Alicja Pinkowicz set three school records in the 100 fly, 100 back, and 200 back and was also Honorable Mention All-America in the 100 fly and 200 back. Pinkowicz also became the first female Panther to score points at the national meet. She was 15th in the 100 fly (54.98), 16th in the 200 back (1:59.33) and 18th in the 100 back (55.27).

Dylan Theisen competed in the one-meter and three-meter diving qualification meet at the beginning of the championships. Theisen competed against the top divers in the nation and finished 25th in the three-meter (189.15) and 27th in the one-meter (215.45). He did not make it into the trials based on those scores.

Maciej Konarski swam in three events but did not make it into the finals. He was 24th in the 400 IM, 29th in the 100 breast, and 38th in the 200 IM. Owen Stender earned Second Team All-America in the 100 breast by finishing 11th with a school record 53.78 seconds. He also finished 23rd in the 200 breast (2:02.12).
