DU's undefeated streak comes to an end as Panthers fall to UIndy

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport University men's lacrosse suffered their first loss (7-1) this season in the conference opener against No. 8 Indianapolis.

Allowing the Hounds to strike first at the 11:50 mark, the Panthers went on an offensive tear that gave DU a 5-1 advantage with 47 seconds remaining in the first period. However, a last-second goal by UIndy cut the deficit to three goals - ultimately beginning a scoring landslide.

Stringing together a 6-2 run in the second and shutting out DU 5-0 in the third period, UIndy created a sizable advantage that proved too much for the Panthers to overcome. The Hounds gave up one goal in the second half (12:05; fourth period), dominating the game's pace and tallying their eighth win this season (8-2).

The struggles on defense primarily came from a lack of faceoff wins as the Panthers were four of 25 in the circle, resulting in a slew of offensive opportunities for UIndy as DU suffered five minutes and 30 seconds worth of penalty minutes.

Luke Eichbauer led DU with two goals, followed by one goal from Jayden Ashley, Dylan Day, Braylon Baker, Ty Woods, Keelan McKouen, and Luke Fritz. Griffin Poll and Kaden Seelye tied for groundballs with three apiece, with Daniel Milano tallying a .541 save percentage on 20 saves.

DU travels to Thomas More on Tuesday, March 26, in their last non-conference matchup this season.
