Panthers trounce Saints in double-digit victory

Box Score CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY - Davenport University men's lacrosse defeated Thomas More 23-6 to cap off non-conference play in the first-ever matchup between the programs.

The offensive landslide came early and often as the Panthers nearly held the Saints scoreless between the first and second periods, but a goal with seven seconds in the first soiled the opportunity. Regardless, a 15-1 scoring advantage between the periods put DU in position to seal the victory heading into the second half.

Thomas More's intensity picked up as their offensive efforts managed to create a handful of scoring opportunities in the third and fourth periods, as the Saints tallied five goals in the latter 30 minutes but were still outscored by DU's eight.

Jayden Ashley led the lopsided victory with four goals. Ty Woods (career-high) and Dylan Fallon (career-high) added three goals each, followed by two goals apiece from Griffin Poll, Braylon Baker (six assists), Dawson Gillette, and Keelan McKouen. Charlie Fritz, Kaden Seelye, Trenton Wattles (first career goal), Dylan Day, and Luke Eichbauer added one score to the tally.

DU outshot the Saints 36-16 while going 14 of 33 in the faceoff circle. The Panthers went deep into their goalkeeper roster as Daniel Milano assumed his starting role and was backed by Antonio Hart and Chase Fisher.

The Panthers now head to Maryville University in a return to league play on Saturday, March 30, with a 12 p.m. opening faceoff.
