Panthers drop 20-8 decision to Lewis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Davenport University men's lacrosse came out of the gates in a sluggish start against Lewis University, losing the conference matchup 20-8 on the road.

The decisive victory for the Flyers consisted of the opponent outscoring the Panthers 12-1 after 30 minutes of play. The lone goal, scored by Jayden Ashley, came at the 8:28 mark in the second quarter, as Lewis continued its offensive landslide to close the half.

Although the Panthers managed to outscore the Flyers 3-2 in the third, the 14-4 deficit proved too much to overcome in the final period as Lewis managed another scoring run in their favor (6-4) to seal the victory.

Ashley and Luke Eichbauer led the Panthers in scoring with two goals each. Sean Ryan (second of career), Braylon Baker, Dawson Gillette, and Keelan McKouen also tallied one goal each. Daniel Milano recorded a season-high 23 saves in the effort, the third-most in a single game in program history.

DU's record falls to 9-3 overall (1-3 GLVC) as their chances of securing a seed in the four-team GLVC Tournament grew slimmer.

The Panthers' next time out is Saturday, Apr. 13 in a match against No. 20 Rockhurst in Missouri.
