KENOSHA, Wis. - Beginning its final weekend of regular season action, the Davenport University softball team split with a doubleheader with Parkside on Friday afternoon at the Case Softball Complex.

Game 1
Result: L, 8-0 (5 Inn.)
How it Happened
The Rangers got their offense going early, posting five runs in the first two innings to get out to the quick 5-0 lead.

As for the DU offense, it struggled in the opening game of the doubleheader, only recording one hit through five innings. Savanna Disbrow ended the game batting 1-for-2 for the Panthers.

In the circle, Hailey Whisman and Cecelia Bell split time pitching through the five innings.

Game 2
Result: W, 15-12
How it Happened
Davenport flipped a switch in game two, registering 19 hits through seven innings to get the three-point victory.

Hayley Kreiger got the scoring started in the top of the first with a three-run home run to give DU a 3-0 advantage.

However, UWP responded with seven runs in the ensuing two innings, getting out to a 7-3 lead over DU.

Kreiger struck again to open the third inning with another home run over the left-field fence. Alexis Gills kept the momentum going on the next at-bat as she doubled to left center field. Later in the inning, Elisse Omey was walked with the bases loaded to bring home Gills, trimming the DU deficit to two (7-5).

With the bases remaining loaded, Brooke Bernt reached on a fielder's choice but brought home Disbrow, bringing the Panthers within one. The big third inning was capped by a single from Becca Daoust, which allowed Bernt and Raegen Smith to round the bases as DU took an 8-7 lead.

Parkside again answered, putting up four runs in the bottom of the third and regained the lead (11-8).

Trailing by four (12-9), heading into the fifth, the Panthers dominated the final three innings. Davenport registered six runs and eight hits down the stretch while holding Parkside scoreless with only four hits.

Riley Hasseld batted in Bernt for the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth.

With the three-run lead in the bottom of the seventh, Disbrow made a pair of impressive plays at the shortstop position to help the Panthers secure the win.

Leading the way for the Panthers was Kreiger, batting 3-for-4 with two home runs, four RBIs and three runs. Gills finished batting 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs for Davenport. Daoust added three hits, a double, two RBIs and two runs, while Disbrow chipped in with three hits, an RBI and a run scored.
