Lineup of Panthers receive All-GLIAC honors

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University women's lacrosse team saw eight players named to the 2024 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Conference teams, the Panthers improving tremendously in Haley Schmucker's second year as the head coach.

Maddy Haynes was named a Second-Team All-GLIAC attacker, leading the way during the 2024 regular season to receive her third All-GLIAC nod. Haynes played and started in all 14 games while leading the Panthers with 37 goals on 73 shot attempts (.781 shot-on-goal rate). Ahead of the GLIAC Tournament, Haynes is sixth in the conference for goal total with her shot-on-goal percentage being the fourth-best in the GLIAC (min. 50 shot attempts). Haynes also tallied the team's second-highest caused turnovers (19), recorded 20 groundballs, and marked a career-high for single-game goals (five) in a win over Lewis on March 24.

Brianna Rodriguez appeared in all 14 games while making 13 starts as a true freshman and was named Second Team All-GLIAC at the attack position. She's recorded the Panthers' fourth-most goals (18), nine assists, 46 draw controls (seventh in GLIAC), and 16 groundballs as an attacking catalyst for DU. Rodriguez tallied a career-high three goals against Lake Erie (Feb. 27) and Lewis (March 24) while marking a pair of assists in three separate contests. Rodriguez has made 35 shot attempts, 25 of which were on frame, for a .714 shot-on-goal percentage.

Tied at ninth in the conference for goal total with 30, Theadora Krueger is a Second Team All-GLIAC midfielder. Appearing in all 14 regular season games while making 12 starts, she Krueger tabbed a game-winning goal against McKendree on March 18. She has recorded 60 draw controls (t-third GLIAC), 19 caused turnovers (sixth GLIAC), and 27 groundballs. She's attempted 56 shots, 49 on goal, for the conference's best shot-on-goal rate of .844 (min. 50 shot attempts). This is Krueger's third straight year being named to All-GLIAC.

Blakely Malpass received her third conference honor after being named Second Team All-GLIAC as a midfielder. The junior is third on the team for goal total (28) and is tied for second in the conference with a .833 shot-on-goal percentage (66 shot attempts). Malpass has tallied 14 assists, 19 groundballs, nine caused turnovers, and eight draw controls, with game-winning goals against Findlay (Apr. 2) and Concordia, St. Paul (Apr. 21). Malpass appeared in all 14 regular season games while making 11 starts for DU.

Named a Second Team All-GLIAC defender as a true freshman, Jade Remacle has appeared in 13 games while making 11 starts for the Panthers. Remacle recorded the team's third-most draw controls (24), 23 groundballs (19th in the conference), and eight caused turnovers throughout the regular season while attempting a single shot in a win over Concordia, St. Paul on Apr. 21.

Maisy Latus was named Second Team All-GLIAC in the goalkeeper position as the team's go-to keeper. She moved up to No. 2 all-time in the program record books for career saves, recording 141 throughout the 2024 regular season (No. 1 GLIAC) for a career total of 431. Recording a career-high 34 groundballs in a single season, Latus's season save percentage rests at .467, the second-highest in the conference. She marked a season-high 15 saves in a loss to Ashland on Feb. 25 while facing 393 shots this year. Latus was recently named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week (Week 11) for her first regular season award.

Gabby Basha received her first conference nod as an Honorable Mention All-GLIAC honoree at the attacking position. Basha recorded a team and career-high 18 assists after starting and playing in all 14 regular season games, the fourth most assists in the GLIAC. She's also tallied nine goals, seven groundballs, two caused turnovers, and two draw controls. Basha attempted 30 shots, 21 on net, for a .700 shot-on-goal percentage.

Marking the second consecutive year being named Honorable Mention All-GLIAC, Alyssa Bird made nine starts in 14 appearances for DU. The sophomore midfielder recorded nine goals (career-high), four assists (career-high), 36 groundballs (t-sixth GLIAC), 11 caused turnovers, and 15 draw controls in her expanded role this year. Bird attempted 32 shots ahead of the GLIAC Tournament for a .844 shot-on-goal percentage while going three of six on free-position shot attempts.
