GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Five Players on the Davenport University softball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Hayley Kreiger, Alexis Gills, Savanna Disbrow, Riley Hasseld and Becca Daoust were the five Panthers featured on the list.
To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a sophomore both academically and athletically. They must have competed in 90% of the institution's games/contests/sets played or must start in at least 66% of the games/contests/sets. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Graduate students must have a minimum of 3.50 for both their graduate program GPA and their undergraduate GPA.
Kreiger led the Panthers in 2024, garnering First Team All-GLIAC honors, while leading the squad in batting average (.355), slugging percentage (.610), home runs (eight) and RBIs (32).
In her first season with DU and final season of her college career, Gills was a Second Team All-GLIAC performer playing third base. The Byron Center, Mich. native led the Panthers in doubles (14) and runs scored (30) in 2024.
Disbrow, also a first-year player with Davenport after transferring from Kalamazoo Valley Community College ahead of the 2023-24 academic year, was an Honorable Mention All-GLIAC selection.
Hasseld was another key player for the Panthers in 2024, batting .291 (44-for-151) with 20 runs scored and 11 RBIs. The left fielder also had a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) with no errors and 73 putouts.
Finally, Daoust finished the season with the third-highest batting average on the team at .325 (51-for-157). She led the Panthers in stolen bases (12), while scoring 25 runs and tallying 13 RBIs.
