The Panthers were NECC National Champions over the weekend

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Davenport Esports program was able to make a sweet trip down to the Lone Star State over the past weekend. The team took part in the CECC May Madness tournament which features Rocket League participants. The team was the ninth seed and faced Northern Arizona University on the main stage in round one. They took a clean 3-0 series win and then faced eight seed St. Claire College in round two. DU fell 3-2 in a game five overtime thriller. The third round match was a rematch with NAU and again the Panthers prevailed 3-0 to end the group stage in second place.

The Rocket League proceeded to the playoff bracket and squared off with Fisher College. The team dropped a 4-1 decision against the Falcons and exited the tournament.

During the fall semester, Davenport secured the NECC (National Esports Collegiate Conference) Midwest Championship after defeating St. Claire College. This regional victory sent the Panthers to the national tournament where DU was awarded the two seed. The Champions Division is the second highest division in the NECC comparable to NCAA Division II. On May 6, DU Rocket League swept the one seed Kennesaw State University in the grand finals 4-0 to secure their first national championship title.
