GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- This past weekend, the Davenport Esports team competed in the River City Invitational at Grand Rapids Comic-Con and finished as Runners-Up in Rocket League and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. In Rocket League, DU lost to Michigan State University 3-2 in a heart-breaking game 5 overtime. In Super Smash Brothers, DU lost 2-0 to Michigan State University after beating UM-Flint in the semi-finals. The Panthers finished third place in Valorant, beating GVSU in the third place match 2-0.
There were ten different colleges and universities who attended the event and Davenport finished second overall in Rocket League and Super Smash Brothers, with a third place finish in Valorant as well.
The River City Invitational was held at Devos Convention Center simultaneously with Grand Rapids Comic-Con.
