HAMMOND, Ind. - Davenport University's Esports team has cemented its dominance in the GLIAC, securing their second consecutive GLIAC Esports Tournament Championship this past weekend.
Davenport's victory was driven by impressive performances across the board. They clinched first place in both Rocket League and Valorant. The Rocket League team triumphed over Grand Valley State University in a commanding 4-1 victory in the grand finals. The Valorant squad followed suit, defeating Purdue Northwest 2-0 in their grand finals match.
The Panthers fell to Michigan Tech 3-0 in the Super Smash Brothers grand finals, securing second place. In League of Legends, the Panthers fell to a strong Roosevelt University roster 2-1 in the semifinals.The Davenport League of Legends team rallied to defeat MTU 2-0 in the third-place match, earning a valuable third-place finish.
These outstanding results across all four featured esports titles – Rocket League, Valorant, Super Smash Brothers, and League of Legends – earned Davenport a combined score of 60 points, securing the championship title.
