Davenport Powerlifting Workshop: A Day of Expertise and Insight

Grand Rapids, Mich. – Davenport University is thrilled to host the Davenport Powerlifting Workshop on Saturday, September 14th. This event offers a unique opportunity for powerlifting athletes, coaches, and enthusiasts to gain valuable insights from leading experts in the field, combining hands-on training with comprehensive educational sessions.

A Full Day of Expert-Led Sessions
The Davenport Powerlifting Workshop features an engaging schedule with a focus on practical technique training and expert-led presentations. Here's what you can expect:

· Technique and Training in the Weight Room:
o   Julianna King, owner of Fortitudo Fitness and coach for The Strength Guys, holds a B.S. in Movement Science & Psychology. She will provide expert instruction on squat technique, helping you refine your form for optimal effectiveness and safety.
o   Sean Noriega, USAPL Pro Card Holder, coach, and owner of NORi Powerlifting, will lead a session on bench press technique. Benefit from his extensive experience and learn advanced techniques to enhance your bench press performance.
o   Jeremy Hartman, owner of Hartman Performance, 2023 National Coach of the Year for USA Powerlifting, 6X National Champion, and IPF World Medalist, will focus on deadlift technique. His session will offer advanced strategies to perfect your deadlift form and improve overall lifting efficiency.
· Mental Health & Sport PsychologyMichael Bress, owner of Bress & Barbell and pursuing a Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University (expected '25), will discuss the impact of mental health on athletic performance. His session will explore psychological factors affecting performance and offer strategies for managing stress, staying motivated, and achieving mental well-being.
· Rules & StrategyDr. Jeremy Orme, DPT, coach for Momentum Powerlifting, will provide a detailed look at powerlifting rules and strategic approaches for competitive success. His session will equip you with essential knowledge for navigating competitions effectively.
· Supplements for Enhanced Performance & RecoveryBen Esgro, co-owner of Elemental Formulations, holds an MS in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, an MS in Sports Nutrition, and is a Registered Dietitian. He will provide valuable insights into how supplements can improve performance and aid recovery. His session will cover the science behind various supplements and how they can be used effectively to support your training goals.
· Pain Management & Injury RehabDr. Brendan Papin, DPT, owner of Momentum Powerlifting and coach, will address methods for managing pain and rehabilitating injuries, helping you maintain a healthy and effective training regimen.
· Fostering Inclusivity, Equity, and Ethics in Powerlifting: Julianna King will also lead a session on inclusivity, equity, and ethics in powerlifting, promoting a supportive and fair environment for all participants.
· Addressing Weak Points: Jeremy Hartman will assist in identifying and addressing weak points in your lifting technique, providing actionable strategies to enhance overall performance.
· Powerlifting Programming: Sean Noriega will provide insights into troubleshooting common issues in powerlifting programming. His session will cover general strategies for optimizing training for the three competition lifts—squat, bench press, and deadlift—and may include case studies to illustrate effective solutions.

Interactive Q&A Panel
To conclude the day, all guest speakers will participate in an engaging Q&A panel. This interactive session will allow attendees to ask questions and receive personalized advice from our panel of experts.
