GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport University women's rugby lost 39-3 to a tough NCAA Division I program in Army West Point last weekend.
Sept. 14 marked the first home-opener loss in program history, and the first time since the 2020-21 season that the Panthers dropped the first contest of the year. Stevie-Rae Ricklick crossed the try line first for Army, with Alissa Eisenhart completing the conversion for a 7-0 lead. Eisenhart then successfully cleared a penalty kick for the Black Knights to put them up 10-3 at the break.
The opponent expanded on its momentum with tries from Mckhaye O'Boyle, Tiamane Fiatoa, Emily Steen, and Cassidy Ball to give Army a commanding lead. Army's regular kicker Eisenhart made three more conversions in the matchup to help the Black Knights walk out with a 39-3 win to hand DU its first home loss since Apr. 23, 2022.
DU returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 21 in a neutral-site contest against New Haven in Indiana, PA.
