FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Sweeping its first series this season, Davenport University men's D2 ice hockey defeated Indiana Tech in back-to-back 6-3 victories against the Warriors between Jan. 24-25. DU's first win was the second-ever at its home arena in the 2024-25 campaign.

The first game was on home ice for the Panthers, the first 20 minutes of action being all defense as the scoreboard read zeros. Josh Elwood (assist Nate Mastrony, Zach Schneider) was the first Panther to tuck in a goal nearly nine minutes into the second, as teammates Cole Dixon (assist Anthony Ott, Gabe Olenzuk) and Mastrony (assist Elwood, Lukas Lyszyk) helped DU extend their lead going into the final 20 minutes. Mastrony (two) and Elwood (one) added the next three goals to secure the win for DU, 6-3.

Day two finished with the same score, but the Warriors were the first and only side to score in the first period to take a 2-0 lead. Dixon and Brayden Bartlett managed a goal in the ensuing 20 minutes, but Indiana Tech's goal midway through the period gave the opponent a 3-2 edge going into the final period. DU didn't allow the deficit to dictate the outcome, as a 4-0 shutout led by Ott, Mastrony, Dixon, and Bartlett sealed the series sweep and improved the Panthers' season record to 4-18-0.

With road contests behind them, DU gears up for its final stretch of games. The Panthers will close the season in four straight home contests, hosting Dayton University on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in a weekend series against the Flyers at Patterson Ice Center.
