10/6/2025 2:16:00 PM

DAYTON, Ohio - Davenport University Panthers brought the brooms out in a series sweep against the University of Dayton on October 3rd and October 4th. Out-scoring the Flyers 10-5 across the two games, the Panthers showcased offensive balance and a tight defensive structure defeating Dayton Friday 4-2 and Saturday 6-3.

Friday's Matchup
In Friday's contest, Anthony Ott broke the ice with 5:41 remaining in the first period, assisted by Dominic Bommarito and Zach Majewski. Less than three minutes later, Cole Dixon added a solo goal to extend the Panthers' early momentum.

The second period remained scoreless, though the Flyers picked up their first penalty, giving Davenport a power play opportunity. Another penalty on the same Flyer, Mike Migon, came in the third period, while no penalties were recorded for DU.

Heading into the final frame, the Flyers struck twice — first with 14:34 remaining and again in the final minute. Between those two goals, Davenport's offense broke through as Logan Spykerman found the back of the net off assists from Ott and Gabe Olenzuk, pushing DU ahead 3–1. To seal the win, Edward Pukhalsky, assisted by Bommarito and Olenzuk, added the Panthers' fourth and final goal.

Davenport closed out the game with a strong offensive showing to earn its third consecutive victory, defeating the Flyers 4–2.

Saturday's Matchup
It was a parade to the penalty box for both squads in Saturday's contest, with the Flyers racking up eight penalties and the Panthers collecting six. Despite multiple power-play opportunities, Davenport capitalized when it mattered most to secure a 6–3 victory.

The Panthers struck first with 10:58 remaining in the first period as Brayden Bartlett scored off an assist from Derrand Wilcox. Momentum didn't stop there — DU tallied three consecutive goals in the span of three minutes. Ian Milton, Cole Dixon, and Wilcox's second goal of the day propelled the Panthers to a 4–0 lead before the Flyers finally responded, with Owen Meichenbaum scoring at the 8:51 mark of the first period.

Heading into the second, Anthony Ott extended Davenport's lead less than three minutes into the period, making it 5–1. The Flyers answered with two goals of their own — Meichenbaum's second and Jayson Reed's — both assisted by a group of Dayton skaters, cutting the score to 5–3 heading into the final frame.

In the third period, Nathan Dixon added the finishing touch just 19 seconds in, assisted by Cole Dixon, sealing Davenport's 6–3 victory and another strong performance on both ends of the ice.
