New Era on the Mat: Damon Leads Panthers into 2025–26 Season at Tiffin Open

CALEDONIA, Mich.A new era begins for the Davenport wrestling program as first-year head coach Dominic Damon leads the Panthers into the 2025–26 season, opening competition at the Tiffin Open on Nov. 1 in Tiffin, Ohio.

The upcoming campaign features 13 regular-season matches and two postseason opportunities, with the Panthers hosting just two home events — the GVSU Duals on Jan. 3, 2026, and the Albion Dual on Jan. 25, 2026. The season will take Davenport across the Midwest from Nov. 1 through March 6–7, when the NCAA Championships are projected to begin.

Damon's inaugural roster includes 14 student-athletes, highlighted by seven true freshmen who bring a youthful spark to a lineup balanced with returning experience. The group aims to establish a strong foundation and set the tone for a new chapter in program history.

Though Davenport is best known for its competition within the GLIAC, the women's wrestling program will compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) this season. After taking a gap year in 2024–25, the Panthers now look to climb the rankings and make a statement against the six other programs in the GLVC.
