Final Stretch: Panthers Eye Strong Finish to GLIAC Play

CALEDONIA, Mich. - Davenport women's soccer (4-9-3 overall and 4-7-1 in GLIAC) heads into their final week of GLIAC regular season play and will face Saginaw Valley State (Nov. 6) marking the Panthers last home match before traveling to Kenosha to play the Rangers of Parkside.

Multiple Panthers contribute to the goal success for DU, Ella Chatfield, Madelyn Schamanek and Sofia Capoccia all contribute with two goals a piece while six other Panthers contribute with one goal each.

The Panthers last outing was against No. 5 Grand Valley State where they fell to a tight loss, 1-0 in Allendale on Oct. 31.

Saginaw Valley State Matchup
The Cardinals (10-4-2 overall) (8-3-1 in GLIAC), have only fallen to GVSU, Parkside, and Ferris St. so far this regular season allowing them an automatic bid into the GLIAC tournament being in the No. 2 seed. Comparing the two teams wins and losses, while the Cardinals tied with Northern Michigan 3-3 on Oct. 5th, the Panthers beat the Wildcats on Oct. 19th 1-0. Same goes for Ferris St. earning a 2-0 victory over SVSU on Nov. 2 while the Panthers tied with the Bulldogs on Oct. 12, 1-1. Making this matchup a complete toss up.

Madi Bajis leads the team and the GLIAC in goals (10), points (23), shots (48), shots-on-goal (22). Supporting the Cardinals find the back of the net, Emily Kolodin leads the team with seven assists. In net, Lainey Garbarz has collected 66 saves allowing 17 goals earning a goals-against-average of 1.16.

Historically, the Cardinals lead the overall series 4-9-2. The Panthers fell to the Cardinals earlier in the season back on Sept. 21 1-2. In the 2024 season, DU tied both matches when they crossed in appearances and in the 2023 season DU walked away with wins both times. Davenport will host SVSU at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex on Nov. 6th with kickoff set for 2 PM, marking the last home match of the 2025 regular season.

Parkside Matchup
The Rangers of Wis. - Parkside, now 8-6-2 overall and 8-3-1 in GLIAC play, will face the Bulldogs of Ferris St. Nov. 6th before hosting the Panthers Nov. 8th with kickoff set for 2 PM. Similar to SVSU, Parkside has also received an automatic bid into the GLIAC tournament sitting at the No. 3 ranking. The Rangers rose to a 1-0 victory over the Panthers on Oct. 26th of this season. Historically, Davenport and Parkside are 3-3-6.

Similarly to the Panthers, multiple Rangers contribute to the goal success: Emily Mikkelson, Ava Rizzitano and Lindsay Dahilnger all tally four goals a piece while Kate Brown and Carley Nolte contribute with three a piece.

Parkside, the only team to beat GVSU in the GLIAC has also had a split performance with GVSU falling short in the first contest while also falling to Ferris St. and Northern Michigan.
