GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The postseason awards from the D2CCA have included a well-deserving recipient on the gridiron in the form of junior running back Cephus Harris (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley H.S.). Harris was recognized for his stellar performance in the backfield in a season that demonstrated remarkable talent, leadership, and consistency on the field.
Harris earned D2CCA Second Team All-Region honors in Super Region 3 after a record-breaking campaign for the Panthers. He emerged as the team's offensive weapon in his first season after transferring from Youngstown State. Harris finished with a school-record 1,096 rushing yards and a school-record 19 rushing touchdowns. He broke the career rushing touchdown mark of 18 in just one season for the Panthers. He became the first Panther to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season and was named First Team All-GLIAC.
Harris rushed for multiple touchdowns in six games and eclipsed 100 yards in six games as well. He saved his best effort for the season finale against No. 1 Ferris State, when he established a single-game school record with 185 rushing yards and a score on a season-high 24 carries.
