Vrabel Notches Double-Double as Panthers Fall to Rangers

KENOSHA, Wis. - Freshman big man Matyas Vrabel recorded his fifth double-double of the season in a 71-51 loss to Parkside on Thursday at the DeSimone Gymnasium.  Vrabel ended the night with 18 points while grabbing 13 boards, which both marked game-highs.

The Panthers jumped out to a 4-o advantage, as Vrabel scored the first four points of the contest. With 12:10 remaining in the first half, Alden Ritt knocked down a shot from behind the arc to give DU a one-point advantage (11-10).

After a layup by Vrabel in the final Davenport possession of the first half, the Panthers entered halftime trailing by nine (35-26).

Trailing by 21 midway through the second half, Dylan Smith scored six consecutive points to trim the deficit to 15 (56-41) with 8:10 remaining. However, that was as close as the Panthers would get to a comeback for the remainder of the game.

Smith ended the game with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks for the Panthers. Jaden Terrell added seven points, two rebounds, a block and a steal. Jovan Tucker chipped in with six points in the loss for DU.
