Smith Scores Season-High as Panthers Fall to Pride

HAMMOND, Ind. - Freshman Dylan Smith scored a season-high 20 points as the Davenport University men's basketball team fell 100-74 to Purdue Northwest on Thursday afternoon. The forward knocked down 10 free throws while also grabbing four rebounds and dishing out two assists.

Matyas Vrabel scored the first four points of the game, helping the Panthers (5-19, 1-5 GLIAC) get out to a 4-0 advantage 2:02 into the contest. However, with 10:05 remaining in the opening half, the Pride (6-18, 3-13 GLIAC) put together a 21-4 run, spanning 6:42 to go ahead of the Panthers 47-25.

Smith scored seven points in the opening two minutes of the second half, to help DU go on a 7-3 run coming out of the break. Jovan Tucker found Aidan Moon, who hit a shot from beyond the arc, putting the score at 74-55 in favor of PNW. That was as close as the Panthers came in the second half, as the early deficit proved to be too much for DU to overcome.

Tucker filled the box score, finishing with 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Panthers. Vrabel ended with 12 points, two rebounds and two steals. Joey Cabana and Jaden Terrell chipped in with seven points apiece.
