DU goes 3-0 over the weekend and improves to 8-0 overall

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 The perfect season for the men's tennis team continued during a busy weekend as the Panthers improved to 8-0 with three wins in three days. Davenport defeated Lawrence Tech 6-1 on Friday at Grand Rapids Racquet Club. They beat Hillsdale on the road 6-1 on Saturday and returned home to MVP SportsPlex for a 5-2 win on Sunday.

The Blue Devils came calling on Friday and earned their point at two singles. The Panthers set the tone in doubles with two wins in three matches. LTU did win 6-4 at one doubles, but Jaden Bender and Carlos Henriquez won 7-5 at two doubles and Reuben Bakker teamed with Simone Pacciolla for a 6-0 win at three doubles. Jan Stolin needed a tiebreak set in the first spot to win 7-6 (7-5) and then cruised 6-0 in the second set. Other singles wins were by Bender, Henriquez, Bakker, and Rudiger Dusselberg.

The trip to Hillsdale provided solid results and similarly it was two and three doubles earning the first point. Bender and Henriquez won 6-4 at two doubles and Bakker once again teamed with Pacciolla for a 6-2 victory at three doubles. Daniel Calver got his first singles win of the weekend at the two spot over Ryan Papazov by scores of 6-3, 6-4. Bakker breezed past Alejandro Cordero Lopez at three singles (6-1, 6-2). Dusselberg at six singles needed an extra set to defeat Rintaro Goda (6-3, 1-6, 10-3).

The Cavaliers of Walsh were no match for the Panthers on Sunday. Walsh did take the doubles point winning at the two and three positions. Bakker and Dusselberg did win 6-4 at three doubles over Nicholas Stroehle and Ben Hoffman. The Panthers got five wins at singles to earn the victory. Jose Brenes was inserted into the six singles spot and won 6-4, 6-4 against Kian Balali. Stolin defeated Luis Hernandez 6-2, 6-1 at one singles. Calver won in three sets over Ethan Milgan (3-6, 6-4, 6-3) at two singles. Bender at four singles also won 6-1, 6-4 over Lukas Kohler.
