GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After starting the season with a 4-2 record on the road, the Davenport women's lacrosse team handled their business in the home opener on Saturday with an 18-7 win over Thomas More in non-conference action.
After a slow start in the opening minutes of the first quarter, the Panthers turned a 1-0 deficit into a 9-1 lead midway through the second quarter. The lead grew to 12-2 which started a running clock with 4:26 left in the second quarter. Davenport led 14-2 at halftime, 17-3 after three quarters and finished with the 18-7 victory.
Rachel Livak got her first start of the season in goal and finished with six saves.
Ele Darmofal was back on the field for the first time since Mar. 9, 2024 due to injury and scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter.
Jade Remacle got to play in the offensive end for the Panthers and scored her first two goals of the season in the second half.
Davenport totaled 33 shots, including 25 shots on goal. DU was also 15-of-17 in clear attempts compared to 8-of-14 for the Saints. Davenport also won 15 draw controls as Remacle led the team with five.
Maddy Haynes led the team with four goals on six shots on goal.
Blakely Malpass added three goals, three ground balls, and two draw controls.
Theadora Krueger contributed three goals, five ground balls, one assist and two caused turnovers.
